Update: Work in Progress

Hi Truckers,

We thought now would be a pretty good time to update you on what we’re working on and where we’re headed.

As usual, we’re always listening to your feedback, providing as much communication as possible, and improving the game with every patch.

That being said, we’re currently focusing on a few things; broken horseshoes, unbalanced totems, and one of the features ya’ll really, really (like holy sh*t) want in Parts and Paints. Yeah I know that’s not that much because that’s not actually all we’re doing and if you don’t believe us use coupon code f*ck you at the checkout.

Want something to hold you over? Here’s a gif we made to promote The Pump:

Leaderboards, Multiplayer, and More

Hey Truckfriends,

It’s about that time. Not the scheduled time. Just a time, when we did things. These things:

  • We’re working on the leaderboards that you’ve frequently requested. Jk you guys. They are totally f*cking there right next to the feedback button. Go ahead, take a look.
  • Chat is a hell of a lot better (we love you, Mike). It’s faster. It’s lightweight. It’s beautiful.
  • We had to wipe the chat log, because of upgrades. That being said, go say things about our game or tell us about your cats. Whatever.
  • If you’re on the Play page, you’ll notice in the upper left near the beta version, players online are shown. Real-time. Really.
  • We’ve built the foundation for multiplayer, so get ready for things like community events (with rewards) and other exciting things to come…

That’s it for this bonus labor day patch. We had to keep things hush-hush, but every week we get a little closer to our goal: making millions of dollars making our players happy.

Seriously though, thanks everyone. We’ll keeping trucking. Please do the same.

Be Chill to Each Other,

Dan. Mike.

Build 231 is Live

Bam, we did it! Build 231 is up and ready for your trucking. As always, feedback is much appreciated and welcome. For detailed patch notes, check the previous post.

Nothing has changed, those are in fact the things we did.

Much Love and Trucks,

Danny and Mikey

Upcoming Patch Notes

Hi Trucksters,

The upcoming patch is a big boi (again), so we couldn’t wait to spill the details:

CONTENT

  • 4 new totems with different effects have been added — chuck those fuzzy dice and try something new, or don’t
  • New radio station. Low Gear: chill vibes for chill chillers. Tune in and check it out!
  • 4 new radio station paints have been added
  • 6 new paints have been added (3 sets) with 1 bonus paint 😉
  • Here’s a preview of a few radio station paints:

  • Here’s a preview of one of the new sets:

BALANCE

  • Nitro has been completely reworked. It’s more of a gradual climb to insane speeds now, which was previously attainable way earlier than we intended
  • Upgrades have increased in price, including the starting costs. Choose wisely
  • Crates have been reworked and we think you’ll like what you find, so go crack one open. Hint: coins are gone
  • Collectible spawn timer has been decreased, base spawn chance slightly decreased (they may spawn more often)
  • Collectible cash bag now has a higher min and max value

BONUS

  • Coins and Scrap are now displayed above your truck each time you hit a mile marker. This should help provide more feedback and make it easier to track your income per “tick”
  • Additional optimization; please let us know if you see an improvement

Oh yeah, so with all these balance changes and new things, we’ve gotta reset your progress again. Sorry about that.

We’ll keep you posted. Keep Truckin!

Build 230 is live

Hi Truck Friends,

As promised, 230 is live for your trucking enjoyment. Let us know if you run into any snags via the feedback form. As always, thank you for your ongoing support, participation, feedback, and love.

Oh, and treat yo’self to those new paints. They’re pretty rad.

Patch notes below in the previous post.

Build 230 Preview

Oh hi Truckies.

We’ve got another patch going live in a few hours, and we’re f&$#ing pumped to share the details:

  • Added 20 new paints (10 sets) get out there and find ’em
  • Your game will now save every 100 miles (the game will tell you). No more lost progress! Probably!
  • Raised vending machine prices. Balance reasons
  • Route lengths have been increased again. Also balance reasons
  • Adjusted volume across the board; ambient winds lowered, radio raised, sound effects evened out, etc
  • A few glitches after recent optimization have been fixed (for example, no visual flash when you change sorting in parts)

WE WILL BE RESETTING EVERYONE’S PROGRESS FOR THIS PATCH.

I scream because I care. You will lose everything, including your paints, scrap, parts, and crates. This is our first wipe but we feel it is necessary now that many bugs have been crushed and significant balance changes have been made. The game should “feel” better overall, but we’ll wait to see what ya’ll say. Unless it’s negative in which case how dare you.

Check out a small preview of the new paint sets:

Build 229p

Hi Truckers,

Surprise patch! Fun!

This patch includes the following:

  • The black screen issue for some Chrome users has been resolved. This was due to a conflict between the game optimization and hardware acceleration settings in Chrome. If the game runs a little choppy, please turn hardware acceleration on
  • Fixed ascension upgrade price bug; the correct amount of money should be removed from your cash when purchasing an upgrade
  • Website: added some code for smaller screens — you should no longer need to use browser zoom
  • Website: chat now only scrolls down automatically when there are new chat messages
  • Reduced truck engine volume
  • Removed a bottleneck causing frame stutter

MEGA ULTRA BONUS CONTENT:

We’ve introduced two new radio stations:

The Pump: turn up the radio and experience back-to-back bangers (approved by Tom Haverford).

Finer Things FM: turn up the radio and experience the exact opposite of that. Classical music for classy ladymadams and lordsirs.

That’s all for now, we hope you enjoy these tweaks and the new radio!

Truck It,
Mad Dan & Big Mike

BUILD 229

Boom. We did it. A day earlier than anticipated too, nbd.

Build 229 is live, Truckers! With this (first) patch there are quite a few changes, so buckle up something something truck puns.

We admit we didn’t do what we said we’d do in the previous post, because we totally did more than that.

Got’em:

  • Routes have increased in length individually
  • Routes have increased in length per ascension
  • The bug where paint/parts are removed or replaced has been fixed
  • The bug where scrap is spent at the vending machine but nothing is received has been fixed
  • Collectibles have been improved across the board; lower and slower with bigger hitboxes
  • Vending machine layout more homogenous, also more obvious it takes scrap, not cash
  • Nitro tank now displays % and status (READY, EMPTY) to alleviate confusion
  • Nitro tank refill upgrade is now working correctly
  • Truck Stop button should no longer stay pressed
  • After finishing a route, buttons will stay pressed until the next route begins
  • Optimization: Memory leaks should be reduced (performance issues over time)
  • Optimization: Background animation should be smoother, reduced stuttering
  • Website: You can now type in the chat window before/without clicking Play in the game window
  • Mike is 32% more handsome in the face area
  • Dan is 16% more likely to die from dehydration

Oh and also we totally reset your progress, including your parts, but you kept your paints so keep your paints on.

Lastly, we’ve awarded all players with (3) starting crates instead of the standard (1) as a show of thanks for your patience and continued support. Truck on!

Ya Bois,
Dan & Mike

UPCOMING PATCH & OTHER THINGS

What’s up mother truckers. We’re going to patch the game this Saturday. Just thought you should know.

Assuming everything goes as planned, this is what’s happening in Build 229:

  • Routes have been rebalanced. Many of you have requested they be longer. Agreed.
  • The “where’d my shit go” bug has been addressed and fixed (parts uninstalling, paints vanishing, resets, etc).
  • Collectibles (floaty bois) have been lowered, speed has been significantly reduced, and hitboxes have been increased.
  • It should be more obvious that the Vending Machine in the Diner takes scrap, not cash. Our bad.
  • Nitro now displays a percentage to make it more obvious when it’s ready. We’ve also added a visual effect.
  • Nitro refill upgrades weren’t doing anything. Now they do something (shout out to Goobles for testing this extensively).
  • Truck Stop issues with the button staying down should no longer be an issue.
  • You can no longer open crates after leaving the warehouse, you must wait until you transition to the next route.

We should probably mention that this patch is going to RESET YOUR PROGRESS AND PARTS. However, we’re going to let you keep your beloved paints. Don’t worry.

Keep in mind moving forward resets will be relatively common in these patches in order to properly balance and optimize the game.

As always, much love and thanks for playing! Keep the feedback coming!

Ya Bois,

Mork & Dane

Next Steps

Hi All,

In case we haven’t said thank you enough, here’s another one; thanks for being a part of the beta! We’ve received a lot of great feedback from many of you and the game hasn’t even been live for 48 hours. We’ve been digging through every single feedback submission — we’re at 120 right now — and organizing everything into a proper sheet so we can explore, prioritize, and get things done. That’s how we do.

Although the blog may not get a lot of traffic yet, I am going to go ahead and cover some of the more prevalent known issues in this post before putting them into the forums as well. In no particular order:

  • The official “where did my shit go” bug where a part or paint uninstalls itself, replaces itself, or simply provides the player with the wrong feedback (lies). We’re looking into it, but the good news is it’s 100% not gone so don’t worry. It’s just hiding. Like a sneaky boi. Try re-equipping or stopping at the truck stop and refreshing.
  • Collectibles (those floaty things) require eSports FPS Champion skills to click on at higher speeds. Also, they’re too high and hiding behind UI buttons. We’re on it.
  • Scrollbars need to scroll faster for some people.
  • A small group of people can’t use the snapshot function (loads blank page or just loads).
  • The Truck Life button stops working due to an event, or trying to smash it at the end of a route. When this happens, a refresh will fix it — though you might lose a little progress depending on what you were doing.
  • Game needs a tutorial, which should resolve a lot of the confusion around questions about Scrap, for example. We agree. Soon.

Those are really the biggest issues at the moment on our radar. Let me reiterate that we read every single feedback item and if yours isn’t listed it hasn’t been dismissed, these were just ones that were reported more than once and are causing a small cascade of additional issues.

In regards to those of you exploring the outer depths aka you’ve ascended twice, things are going to get a little weird, primarily with the map and route rewards. Don’t panic, you’re just pushing into territory we haven’t refined yet. The good news you can keep truckin’ and collect crates and such, but if your truck suddenly turns into a gigantic spider-baby that’s on you.

That being said, our core goal here is to lock down the major bugs, improve on the UX/UI, then focus on the content and features. We’d much rather provide you with 25 hours of polished, sexy gameplay rather than 100 hours of tiny nightmares. We’ll get there, and we’ll keep you posted.

Much Love,

Dansens & Mitchels
